Affiliate Sites

Affiliate sites or mini-sites can be a very strong source of income, if done correctly. As part of an ongoing experiment, we created affiliate sites on seperate domains - to see for ourselves what works and what does not. You're welcome to browse through our affliate sites listed below. From time to time, we discuss the results of our affiliate experiments in our "Electronic Light" newsletter. If you're not subscribed yet, go ahead. We share real in-the-trenches e-business experience - and we don't ever share your e-mail address. See our full privacy policy.
Yes, this domain was initially registered as a home for our "Electronic Light" newsletter, but it was perfect when we decided to put up an affiliate shop to sell real lamps and lights. The project started in May 2002. It performed well right off the bat, but that was to end in August when the site's PageRank dropped from 6 to 1 and visitors dropped from 500 per day to 100 per day. I was sure we were being penalized by Google. Turns out it was a sloppy linking on our part. We fixed it and PageRank for this site went back up to 6. Some additional optimization resulted in traffic increasing to about 900/day. For a more detailed discussion on PageRank, Search Engines and Search Engine Optimization, please refer to our Search Engine Yearbook.
This affiliate site is an attempt at creating the ultimate no-fuss store. The idea is to make a chair store that's really fast and really user-oriented. So far it has only been moderately successful, but there's a lot of expansion planned for the future. ---
OTHER NOTEWORTHY SITES: There are many ways to make money, affiliate programs being one. Selling your own good and services is of course where the big money is though. Have a look at what we're up to here: CartoonBall.com
